I’ve been listing to you guys since you started and have enjoyed all the casts on the network – This week you really disappointed me, allowing your bias to really taint the show.

You spent and extended amount of time at the beginning of the show slamming the new free version of the 5E basic rules, when by your own admission – none of you have even bothered to read them.

Myself – having actually took the time to READ the new rules – a relatively pleased at the direction they are taking the basic rule set. They have simplified the core game mechanic, and flattened the power curve and greatly simplified the math.

If you’re going give your give opinion of the product – at least take the time to bother READING the product you’re giving your opinion on.

They have done a lot of work on this edition and it shows. Is it the “save all, end all”? – I doubt it, but it has a lot of potential.

I’d be very interested in an entire show talking about the new version and what you like and what you don’t after you’ve taken the time to read the rules.

Having not done so makes you come off as a group of elitists and debases your entire show.

You are 100% right, but I personally did say, I will give it a shot, like 4E. BUT I will not apologize for my words, I am entitled to think how I want to think, if it comes off as an elitist, then so be it.

    With that said…

We are doing a full reading of the basic free rules and will do a full fair review. I’ve told everyone to read it with an open mind. If they hate it, that’s fine, but give it a chance.

I have thoroughly enjoyed these last two episodes. These are some of my favorite modules from back in the day. Not only is it helpful to hear your different approaches on how you would DM the encounters in modules (contrasting your various styles), but I dig the discussion about what makes these classics “old school” and what elements are “Gygaxian” is really interesting and informative.

BTW – The panels’ comments about 5E came across like tongue-in-cheek riffing and totally in the character of the show.

listening to a few older posts.

In answer to who hates player death. It is the players. Not the company or the designers. They know their customers do not like losing characters.
